The purpose of this TOT is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively deliver pre-deployment and other UN peacekeeping training.
National Investigation Officers (NIO) have a key role in implementation of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General’s zero-tolerance policy on sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA). Personnel deployed to operations under UN command and control are prohibited from committing acts of SEA. SEA violates universally recognized international legal norms and standards and constitutes serious misconduct.
The training course aims to facilitate the enhanced implementation of ORMS in peacekeeping and special political missions, consistent with requirements included in the ORMS Policy (2021). Participants in the course are trained on the concept, principles and implementation requirements of ORMS, as well as the facilitation of crisis management procedures, including through the conduct of scenario-based table-top exercises. There is no course fee, but all participating missions are required to cover the cost of travel and DSA for their respective nominees.
